If diamonds
are a girl's best friend, imagine how you could score with Super
Diamond, Saturday, May 20, at the Ogden Theatre. The band is lighting
up marquees and dazzling audiences these days with its very own
Neil Diamond experience.
Save your sneers and scorns, ye of the too-cool masses: According
to Super Diamond's spokesman Daniel Swan, every single one of us
has at least one memory linked to a Neil Diamond tune, and -- let's
face it -- you probably know the words to more of his songs than
you care to admit.
Led by the disconcertingly Diamond-esque Surreal Neil (aka Randy
Cordero), Super Diamond began performing regularly in San Francisco
and the western states about five years ago. Now the group is selling
out venues like New York's Irving Plaza and Chicago's House of Blues,
presenting a glittery, smoke-filled show of Neil classics, with
a couple of sequined outfits thrown in just for fun. They got the
way to groove ya, Cherry baby.
